EMS was called to the Purple Goat on East Washington Street for a report of a subject having medical issues.

There was a one-vehicle accident on CR134. The report was that the vehicle struck a tree and caught on fire. First responders arriving on the scene reported a vehicle fully involved in the bar ditch. There were two patients. A male subject was complaining of back pain and another with a head injury. The fire from the vehicle spread into the grass and started a significant grass fire. Several agency’s had to be called in to put out the fire.

There was a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident in the 500 block of North Harbin Drive. No injuries were reported. A wrecker was called.

Update for Monday 08/03/2020

These scanner recordings occurred Sunday afternoon thru Monday Morning.

A caller advised that her grandson was mowing and hit a metal pipe in Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park. A caller advised that the pipe was spewing a liquid with a strong odor. Erath Fire was paged to the scene and reported that this was a public propane tank leak. The tank was shut off and a plumber will be called.

There was a report of a civil disturbance between two subjects that were arguing over items. A Deputy responded to the scene and reported that one subject had left the scene.

Bluff Dale fire was paged to Hood Count for mutual aid on a grass fire near the Big L Ranch.

A caller advised that a male subject was threatening to kill her and her children. The caller also stated that the subject did grab the caller by the throat and threw the caller against a wall earlier in the day. SPD responded to the caller’s location.

There was a report of a domestic in progress. A caller advised that a male and female were fighting and that there was glass all over the floor. Deputies and EMS responded to the scene.

There was a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of South Loop and Lillian Street. The roadway was reported to be blocked. One vehicle was reported to be rear-ended. EMS did leave the scene with no transport.

Also just an update on the vehicle vs a pole traffic accident on Ollie Street that was reported on about midnight last night. The driver was arrested for DWI and a wrecker was called for the vehicle.

DPD arrested one subject for resisting arrest. After a trip to the Stephenville Hospital, there was a bonus trip to Erath County Jail.

Update for Friday Afternoon

These scanner recordings occurred between 11:00 AM Friday and 2:30 PM Friday afternoon.

There was a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident on US281 at the US6 intersection. The roadway was reported to be blocked. There were minor injuries reported and EMS did not transport with three patient refusals. One vehicle was a full-size pickup and the other was a TXDOT pickup with a small trailer attached to it.

There was a report of a traffic accident on US6 about three miles out of Dublin. This was near Cottonwood Church. The caller reported that the vehicle that caused the accident had left the scene. The vehicle was reported to be stopped on US6 near CR305. The driver was reported to have left the vehicle and ran across a field. Deputies responded to the scene and we’re looking for the subject. They did find the suspect and he was arrested for drunk driving.  He also had a suspended driver’s license. A wrecker was called for the vehicles the suspect left.

There was a minor traffic accident in the 2900 block of West Washington near Tractor Supply. Two vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported. The roadway was blocked for a short time. EMS was not called.

There was a report of a fight in progress at the City Park. A caller reported that two females were fighting near the amphitheater. Officers arriving on the scene reported that there were vehicles leaving the scene in all directions. After investigation officers reported that one of the females was from Stephenville and the other was from Brownwood. This was a spillover from a basketball game that occurred earlier.

Report of a traffic accident in front of Dollar General at 170 Morgan Mill Road. The initial report there is a fatality from this accident. First Responders are en route.

4:01 PM
Units on the scene reported two vehicles involved with one patient still in the vehicle.

4:03 PM
EMS on the scene has asked for air medical to respond to Clark Field.

4:07 PM

EMS on the scene has asked for Air Evac 69 will be instructed to land at the scene right next to Dollar General.

4:30 PM

Unit on the scene reports that Air Evac is on the ground.

4:48 PM

Command on the scene reports that Air Evac has lifted and is en route to JPS Fort Worth. This was the passenger of one of the vehicles.

4:49 PM

One subject on the scene has been arrested for DWI. This subject does have a prior DWI charge but no convictions.

5:26 PM

EMS Unit 329 have left the scene with no transport.

5:37 PM

The Justice of the Peace has been called to the scene.

5:55 PM

Officers are en route to Stephenville ER with the subject arrested for DWI for a blood draw.

6:11 PM

A funeral home has been called and two wreckers are en route.

7:12 PM

The funeral home and JP have cleared the scene. Officers report that the roadway is open.

Fatality Vehicle Accident Investigation
01/20/2019

The Stephenville Police Department is investigating a fatality vehicle accident that occurred this afternoon at approximately 3:55 P.M. in the 100 Block of Morgan Mill Road. One vehicle was a Black 2013 Dodge pickup driven by Justin Schrader and occupied by another male. The second vehicle was a Red 2004 Dodge Neon with two occupants. Justin Brian Schrader, W/M 24 was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. A male passenger was released at the scene. A 38-year-old male passenger of the Dodge Neon was transported to JPS Hospital by helicopter, the 40-year-old female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Greenway. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the names of the injured and deceased are being held pending family notifications.

Morgan Mill units on the scene reported that the female occupant was out and walking around. Erath Med One did leave the scene with no transport.

There was a report of smoke in a bar ditch on FM8 near Lingleville. Lingleville Fire was paged to the scene to spray some water on it.

There was a report of a strong odor of gas on US281N about three miles south of Morgan Mill. Erath and Morgan Mill fire was paged to the scene. This was reported to be normal gas discharge from a pipeline in the area. A technician for the pipeline company was asked to come to the scene.

There was a report on a vehicle that was pulling a trailer with no tires on the rim and the wheels were sparking. The vehicle was in Comanche County and heading into Erath County on US377. I did not hear any more on this call.

No injuries were reported.  The semi was reported to have three big rolls of paper that were on the roadway and in the ditch. TxDOT was notified for reports of guardrail damage on the overpass. A wrecker was called.
